Shalom Y’all’s Downtown Location Will Temporarily Closed for a Refresh and Rebrand Expect a more casual menu as well as grab-and-go items at the new Lil’ Shalom space. (Henry Cromett) Updated May 6 at 9:28 PM Another downtown Portland restaurant is shutting its doors only this time, it’s temporary. Shalom Y’all’s location on Southwest Alder Street near 12th Avenue is scheduled to go on hiatus Monday, May 10, for a bit of a refresh. When it welcomes back customers in early June, the shop will be rebranded “Lil’ Shalom” and feature more grab-and-go items rather than a full-service menu.

The Israeli-inspired restaurants were hit with graffiti on their east- and west-side locations sometime on Sunday, Jan. 10.
Two branches of a Portland eatery serving Israeli-inspired cuisine were targeted by graffiti overnight on Sunday, Jan. 10.
Photos on social media showed the eastside location of Shalom Y all on Southeast Taylor Street coated with phrases including yuppie scum, on your hands and enjoy your s t meal.
The joint s outdoor dining tables also were strewn in disarray. The company which is owned by the Sesame Collective restaurant group that was created by chef Kasey Mills, Jamal Hassan, and Laura Amans in 2020 released a statement to Pamplin Media reporting more graffiti at their downtown location on Southwest Alder Street as well.

Vandals targeted both locations of Shalom Y all, as well as Aviv s brand-new Pearl District eatery. Spray-painted messages on the buildings exterior and sidewalk included Free Palestine, Murder and Yuppie Scum.

Police are investigating after three Israeli-style restaurants in Portland, Oregon were vandalized with antisemitic graffiti on Sunday.
Graffiti found at two locations of the Shalom Y’all restaurants included messages such as “Murder,” “Free Palestine,” and “hummus is not Israeli,” according to photos posted on social media.
“We are incredibly disheartened by these actions,” said the restaurants’ co-owners, Kasey Mills, Jamal Hassan, and Laura Amans, in a statement to
