Over her desk at the Disney Parks studio in Los Angeles, production coordinator Jillian Howell has a West Virginia flag.
âI get attached to places really easily. So I definitely love Los Angeles â but I always say that Iâm a West Virginian,â she said.
âWhen youâre out of state, you often become, like, the ambassador for the state just by talking about it and trying to support it. And so I think thatâs just really important for the way that others perceive us, but also the way that we perceive ourselves.â
But in the earliest days of her career, there didnât seem to be many others near her home in Putnam County, West Virginia, doing the kind of work she wanted to do.

Before the Netflix original documentary series “My Love: Six Stories of True Love,” there was a documentary called “My Love, Don’t Cross That River” in South Korea. This film was loved by 4.8 million viewers when released in the winter of 2014. Since then, it took me a lot of time to understand why so many people were touched by the story.
The vast majority of humans meet and live together. When this relationship lasts for a good deal of time, we call it “happiness.” Otherwise, we feel “unhappy.” Some even believe life’s success or failure depends on the continuation of love.
