A former acting defense secretary under Donald Trump’s administration endorsed Republican Joe Kent’s bid for Congress this week.
Christopher Miller, who served as Trump’s acting secretary of defense for the last three months of the former president’s term, said that Kent an Army veteran has his “complete and total support.”
“I have been in combat with Joe Kent. In combat, a person’s true character is revealed,” Miller said, according to a press release from Kent’s campaign. “The only things that matter are honor, endurance, selflessness, service, and empathy. No one I know better exemplifies these virtues.”
A call has been made for more foster carers in Redbridge.

Fostering inspires a real sense of accomplishment , says a Redbridge carer who hopes her story will inspire others to come forward.
Tricia Jones made the decision ten years ago after having her son: He was smothered in love from the moment that he was born. I had so much love to give, and knowing that not every child is fortunate enough to experience the same, fostering seemed an obvious decision.
The 45-year-old beauty therapist is one of 40 foster care households currently operating in the borough, with Redbridge Council stressing the need for more.

Redbridge Council is launching a crowdfunding campaign Making IT Happen, which it will match fund, to get laptops to children who need them.

Redbridge Council has launched a crowdfunding campaign to ensure children and young people have access to a laptop to study at home during lockdown.
The council will match-fund all donations that are made to the Making IT Happen campaign and, for every £200 raised, will provide a laptop to a child in need.
The new laptops will be given to children who are in need of a device, which will be loaned to them and returned to their school once it is no longer needed.
Rebridge Council have announced a new and expanded cabinet

Redbridge Council leader Jas Athwal has announced his new expanded cabinet filling in vacancies and creating a new role.
Fullwell ward Cllr Vanisha Solanki joins the cabinet as the member responsible for housing and homelessness.

That position was previously held by Cllr Farah Hussain, who stepped down from the cabinet in September.
Cllr Jo Blackman (Wanstead Village) will serve as the cabinet member for environment and civic pride and Cllr Khayer Chowdhury (Valentines) will become the cabinet member for crime and community cohesion.

Foster parents Kazim and Sarah Hursit are encouraging people to consider becoming a foster carer after their transformative experience.

A foster family who helped raise a young man who is now studying to become a doctor have described the transformative process they went through and encourage others to take part.
When Jake Riley was first taken in by his foster parents at the age of six he thought he would be moved to another placement, not wanting to get his hopes up.
But when Sarah and Kazim Hursit sat him down and told him he would stay with them permanently, he completely transformed.
