GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. A convicted drug dealer who set into motion a chain of events that led to the 2018 overdose death of a Grand Rapids woman was sentenced this week to mandatory life in prison.
A federal judge sentenced 28-year-old Javontae Q. White to a life term for distribution of fentanyl resulting in death. White got lesser sentences on two other drug convictions stemming from the same case.

KALAMAZOO, MI “Even if I had the discretion, this court would have imposed the same sentence anyway,” said U.S. District Judge Paul Maloney while sentencing Javontae White to life in prison.
White, 28, was found guilty on Jan. 14 of one count of distributing fentanyl resulting in the July 2018 death of 33-year-old Grand Rapids woman Elaine Christensen. White, who has seven prior felony convictions, was sentenced to a mandatory life sentence on Monday, April 26 at the federal courthouse in Kalamazoo.

KALAMAZOO, MI A Grand Rapids man who sold a lethal dose of fentanyl that killed a 33-year-old woman was found guilty Thursday afternoon in U.S. District Court in Kalamazoo.
After a three-and-a-half day trial, Javontae Quintez White, 28, was found guilty Jan. 14 by a 12-member jury of one count of distributing fentanyl resulting in death.
