May 13, 2021 ELLINGTON Lucy Ann Rider, 78, of East Main Street, Ellington, passed away, Wednesday (May 12, 2021) in her home, while under the care of Chautauqua Hospice and her siblings by her side. She was born July 16, 1942 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Cleland E. and Edith L. (Strom) Vollentine. Lucy was a 1960 graduate of Falconer High School and received her degree in Nursing from the WCA Hospital School of Nursing and also a degree in Business and Accounting from the Edison Community College in Ft. Myers, Florida. Following a career in nursing at the Gowanda Psychiatric Center in Gowanda, NY, Lucy went on to work as the accounting manager for Sanibel Moorings Properties in Sanibel FL., retiring in 2005. ....
Edwin S. Cannon MAYVILLE Edwin S. Cannon, 91, of Mayville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020, at his home with family at his side. He was born Jan. 14, 1929, in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of the late Edwin R. Cannon and Mildred Samson Cannon. Ed grew up in Ellington, N.Y., and graduated from Falconer Central School, class of 1947. After graduation Ed moved to Detroit and worked at General Motors. Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War while stationed in the Philippines before being honorably discharged. He returned home and worked for the New York State DOT in Mayville, where he worked on the sign crew and was a snow control dispatcher. ....
