Premiering May 1, Bishop Stang s musical production of 1918 revolves around Alice Emerson, a young woman in her early 20s who performs at her uncle s vaudeville hall, and how the 1918 Spanish influenza has affected her family business. Through the exchange of love letters between Alice and her boyfriend, Henry Gowdy, a professional baseball player serving in the U.S. Army in France during World War I, the audience follows the story of young vaudeville performers and how the pandemic and war change their lives forever.
