+ May 05, 2021 POLICE Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar has been appointed as the new chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año confirmed Wednesday, May 5, 2021.
Eleazar is currently the PNP’s deputy chief for administration, the second highest ranking officer in the police organization.
He will succeed General Debold Sinas, who will retire on May 8.
“President (Rodrigo) Duterte has just approved the appointment of PLt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazer as the next chief of Philippine National Police with the rank of Police General vice PGen. Debold Sinas who retires on May 8, 2021,” Año said in a message to reporters.

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – Police arrested Friday a couple who allegedly blackmailed a police trainee in Mindoro by threatening to post his lewd video on social media.
Police Col. Joseph G. Talento, chief of the Philippine National Police Regional Anti-Cyber Crime Unit (RACU) in Region 4-B or Mindoro Occidental and Oriental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan, said the suspects, identified as Camille Barcenal of Bulacan and her live-in partner, Mark-Jun A. Bronola, 25, of Malabon City, were apprehended in an entrapment operation in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan.
Talento said the police trainee, who resides in Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro, told probers that the two suspects threatened him that they will post his video containing scandalous scenes if he would not send them money.
The National Police Chief, General Lieutenant Neth Savoen, said the suspects were arrested after the police received several complaints from some of their victims.
