Risk of worst-case terror attack 'very high' according to Government's Terrorism Risk Profile

National security officials believe there is a “very high” risk of a significant terrorist attack occurring in the coming three years, according to information from a classified report obtained by
Stuff.
A summary of the Government’s “Terrorism Risk Profile”, a classified report which informs the current counter-terrorism strategy, reveals the country’s national security agencies assessed the risk of a worst-case scenario attack occurring as “very high” within the five years from June 2019.
Such an attack, it was assessed, could come from unidentified people with extremist right-wing ideology who have “intent and capability”, or from “a small number” of Islamist extremists known to the agencies who could commit an unsophisticated attack, or from other, unspecified violent issue-motivated group ....

The Muslim community fear they could be targeted under new terror law changes - proposals the Prime Minister admits wouldn t have prevented the Christchurch terror attack. 
Temel Atacocugu was hit with nine bullets on March 15, 2019, in his teeth, his legs and arms. And his community is still hit by racism every day. 
Some people didn t get lessons from that tragedy and massacre, he told Newshub. 
And new terror law changes announced on Tuesday wouldn t have prevented the tragedy or his injuries. It wouldn t have saved those 51 lives.  ....

ISIS bride Shamima Begum WILL be arrested if she returns to UK, counter-terror chief says

ISIS bride Shamima Begum will be arrested and must be treated as a security threat if she wins her legal battle to return home, the UK s counter-terror chief has said.
Neil Basu said people who had gone to Syria and made it back should expect to be investigated and face prosecution.
The assistant commissioner of the Metropolitan Police said the country does not need to import a greater problem on top of the current terrorism threat.
It comes after the head of the terrorism watchdog warned attempts to deradicalise jihadis using mentoring and theological programmes do not work. ....
