Endicott Police Crack Down on Speeding After Crossing Guard Hit
A veteran crossing guard was seriously hurt when she was struck by a car while on the job on East Main Street in front of Union-Endicott High School.
The guard was admitted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse after she sustained a broken pelvis. Endicott police chief Patrick Garey said she was hit by the vehicle on Monday.
The incident happened three days after workers with the New York State Department of Transportation installed new school zone speed limit signs. The speed limit is 20 mph from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on school days.
