Foreigners members are British and American, and they formed the band in 1976. The band members are veteran British guitarist and songwriter Mick Jones, fellow Briton ex-King Crimson member Ian McDonald, Dennis Elliot, and American vocalist Lou Gramm, Al Greenwood and Ed Gagliardi. Mick came up with the name since some members are British and some are American.
The first self titled album was released in 1977 and was played on radio extensively. Their first four albums released by Foreigner were certified 5X platinum in the United States. The first album hit #4 on the U.S. album chart. They followed up their debut with Double Vision did even better peaking at #3. The third album was Head Games coming out in 1979 which peaked on the album charts at #5. Then came Foreigner 4, the band was reduced to a quartet, as Jones and Gramm took over running the group. The first three albums did very well for this band, and Foreign
