COVID-19: Edo govt urges vaccination, compliance with guidelines to contain pandemic

The Edo State Government has reiterated the need for residents to get vaccinated against coronavirus (COVID-19) and continue to comply with all preventive protocols to contain the pandemic in the state. Edo State COVID-19 Incident Manager, Dr. Andrew Obi, who gave the charge while speaking to journalists in Benin-city, said the state has continued to record success in the management of the pandemic. Noting that the government has ramped up its mass vaccination campaign across the state’s 18 local councils, the Incident Manager explained that over 37,000 eligible persons, including health workers, strategic leaders and other frontline staff, have so far been vaccinated in the first phase of the exercise.

COVID-19: Edo urges caution as active cases gradually rise again

The Edo State Government has urged for caution and compliance with guidelines to contain the second wave of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, as the state records gradual rise in the number of active cases after weeks of drastic drop. The State COVID-19 Incident Manager, Dr. Andrew Obi, disclosed this during the daily virtual meeting of the State COVID-19 Taskforce, chaired by the State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki. Obi said the state has moved from only one active case in all its isolation facilities to seven active cases, calling for the cooperation of all residents to ensure the government totally ends the pandemic in the state.
