Thomas Fleming Dorsey, 98, of Falmouth died March 3 in his home on Nursery Road.
He was the husband of Audrey Jane (Hofmann) Dorsey, who died in November. They had lived on Nursery Road for more than 50 years before he and his wife moved into Atria Woodbriar Place in 2016.
Born in Putnam, Connecticut, he was raised on several farms managed by his father, including Hill-Stead in Farmington, Connecticut, and Mount Loretto on Staten Island, New York.
He graduated from Tottenville High School on Staten Island in 1941. During high school, he was a Sea Scout working aboard the charter schooner S/V Tanager. He acquired a life-long love for the sea while attaining the rank of quartermaster, the equivalent of an Eagle Scout.

Washington, D.C. Even as the House was moving to impeach President Donald Trump for a second time, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), the incoming Senate majority leader, laid out a “bold” agenda that includes infrastructure investment.
Schumer told his fellow Democrats in a letter their work will not be delayed by the impeachment drama.
Schumer’s call for action on infrastructure tracks with President-elect Joe Biden’s campaign agenda that included transforming the nation’s crumbling transportation infrastructure.
Ports and inland waterways were specifically included in that vision along with roads, bridges, aviation and rail, the transportation closely identified with “Amtrak Joe.”

The United States is a maritime nation. Our security and prosperity depend on the seas. Since the end of World War II, the United States has built, led, and advanced a rules-based international system through shared commitments with our allies and partners. Forward deployed forces of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard collectively known as the Naval Service have guaranteed the security of this system. Free and open access to the world’s oceans has fostered an extraordinary era of wealth and peace for many nations. That system is now at risk.
