MONSIGNOR PHILIP SAYLOR Monsignor Philip P. Saylor, 91, passed away on Monday, Jan. 25, 2021, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Monsignor was the first born of Philip and Katherine (Hoy) Saylor on Oct. 1, 1929 in Centre Community Hospital. He is survived by a sister, Irene Dornisch and her husband Bernard of Lock Haven; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John; and a sister, Elizabeth. He attended the original Saint John’s Catholic School in Bellefonte where he was taught by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. He graduated from Bellefonte High School in 1947, where he was senior class president as well as newspaper editor.

Archbishop of Wales to retire in May Church in Wales Archbishop Davies THE Archbishop of Wales, the Most Revd John Davies, is to retire in May after four years in post. Archbishop Davies, who will shortly celebrate his 68th birthday, has also served as the Bishop of Swansea & Brecon for the past 13 years. The 13th Archbishop of Wales, he was also the first Bishop of Swansea & Brecon to be elected as Archbishop. He will retire from both posts on 2 May. Archbishop Davies is a former solicitor, specialising in criminal law. He had been heavily involved in the life of the Church at parochial, diocesan, and provincial level before he left law for the ordained ministry in 1984. After ordination, he completed a MA in canon law.
