LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) â After a rough year, the hospitality industry is on the comeback. Restrictions have slowly been lifted and events are happening in downtown Lexington. It s a light at the end of the tunnel for many businesses.
Bluegrass Tavern has become a staple bar in the pavilion. For the bourbon bar, each shutdown was harder than the next. It s so hard to manage staffing, manage inventory and manage finances when you don t know how long you re going to be open, Bluegrass Tavern Owner Sean Ebbitt said.

2020 was a rough year for restaurants and that’s putting it mildly.
The year started out with the usual ebbs and flows of a competitive dining industry. In Birmingham, for example, Pihakis Restaurant Group was preparing to eventually shutter its location of Mile-End Deli in the city’s downtown area and transition the building to another one of its concepts: a Hero Doughnuts & Buns.
Restaurants eager to welcome customers indoors

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) â For three weeks, restaurants and bars across the state have not allowed indoor dining after Gov. Andy Beshear issued an executive order temporarily halting it. As of Monday, restaurants are back open for indoor seating, but at a 50% capacity.
While indoor dining was shutdown, many restaurants improvised by providing outdoor dining, curbside and delivery. Kevin Lewis, General Manager at The Local Taco, says over those three weeks, the restaurant lost $85,000. It s hard to see the restaurants close and then if you try to go to Home Depot or Wal-Mart, there s not a parking spot. And there s tons of people in droves, they re shoulder to shoulder, and you re like, how am I the super spreader?
