Local man dies in electrocution accident
A Prineville man died Tuesday afternoon after accidentally getting electrocuted at his home.
According to a Crook County Sheriff s Office report, the accident was reported around 3 p.m. When county deputies arrived at the Lakeshore RV Park residence on Ochoco Highway east of Prineville, they found 26-year-old Kyle Johnson, who was lying on the ground next to a camp trailer, unresponsive and not breathing.
Deputies disconnected the power supplies to the camp trailer, but it was unclear if any other external/homemade power supplies were connected to the trailer. Medics from Crook County Fire and Rescue arrived on scene shortly after and utilized non-conductive tools to disconnect the remaining power cord/power supply. Johnson was pronounced deceased.

Mayor Ted Wheeler defends the controverial police kettling tactic during a Monday press conference.
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler and other city leaders called for an end to violence and property destruction on Monday, March 15, after a group damaged businesses in the Pearl District on Friday night. They re not going to get away with it, Wheeler said.
Elected officials and community leaders joined Wheeler in the call for peace during an online press conference on Monday. They included former Portland Trail Blazer Terry Porter, former State Sen. Margaret Carter, former State Sen. Avel Gordly, and Acting U.S. Attorney Scott Asphaug. All denounced the ongoing violence as criminal activity and not legitimate political protest.
City to hire new staff for Southwest neighborhood groups
After cutting ties with district coalition, city bureau will expand to serve 17 neighborhood associations. Change is never easy, Portland City Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty reiterated Wednesday, March 10. Hardesty s comments came right before the City Council voted 4-1 to hire two new city staffers in the Office of Community and Civic Life to provide services to Southwest Portland s 17 neighborhood associations.
The neighborhood associations were previously served by a district coalition Southwest Neighborhoods Inc. but Hardesty announced two weeks prior that the coalition would no longer receive any city grant funds and she would move to have neighborhood groups serviced directly by the city instead of the independent nonprofit group.

Mayor announces efforts to fight violence and repair Portland s brand at Friday s City Club address.
At Friday s State of the City program, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler hammered on pro-business, anti-violence themes while promising increased police oversight, saying I believe 2021 will be a year of recovery.
The yearly address, hosted by the City Club of Portland, was delivered by video online due to the pandemic. XRAY.FM and Pamplin Media Group are media sponsors of the event.
The production felt at times like a long television show, featuring videos of guest speakers such as Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Pastor Edward Williams, spliced and edited to provide narrative. There was also an interview of Wheeler by Eric Ward, executive director of Western States Center.
