Discussions have resumed to shape the future of Mackay Airportâs Milton Precinct that would expand freight potential to and from the region.
Initial evaluations on the future use of land surrounding the precinct were put on hold last year because of COVID but have been revived as planning gets under way.
A Mackay Airport spokeswoman said the Milton Precinct was put on hold but talks had âresumed re-evaluating a range of opportunitiesâ.
âMilton Precinct is part of the Mackay Airportâs overall vision to develop an airport that meet the needs of the region and its community,â the spokeswoman said.

Braskem has made its first international shipment of polypropylene from its new Global Export Hub in Charleston, S.C.
The site is able to support shipments of up to 450 million pounds of PP and specialty polymers anually, supporting Braskem sites in Texas, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Given the current tight North American market, we are prioritizing our domestic clients, but over time, the hub will allow us to leverage our feedstock advantaged, polymer production assets in the U.S Gulf Goast, Pennsylvania and West Virginia to best meet our international clients needs, Alexandre Elias, vice president, Olefins & Polyolefins North America, said.
