With 23 vacant storefronts in the downtown area, the Tourism and Economic Development Advisory Committee is working on having murals created to spruce up the unused brick and mortar locations. The murals would feature pictures of cultural and town buildings of New Canaan.
The village right now has an 11 percent vacancy rate in its 207 street-level store fronts, according to a count conducted by Hearst Connecticut Media on Monday, May 3.
