For the second year in a row, Memorial Day events in the High Desert will be hampered by COVID-19 restrictions that have forced the cancellation of some events.

LOCK HAVEN Blake Cain, 18, of Mill Hall and an 11-year-old Lock Haven girl were cited for criminal mischief involving vandalism at the Tiger Den playground on April 24, Lock Haven City Police said.
Police said assistance from the public helped identify the two suspects.
DUI charge
SPRING MILLS A case of driving under the influence was investigated by state police at Rockview on May 6.
According to police, a 35-year-old Spring Mills woman was stopped at the intersection of N. Pennsylvania Avenue and Overlook Drive in Potter Township, Centre County.
One-vehicle crash
TAYLOR TOWNSHIP State police at Rockview investigated a one-vehicle crash that took place along Interstate 99 in Taylor Township, Centre County.
A proposed shopping center would bring a new supermarket and restaurants to Benner Pike near Bellefonte.
Preliminary land development plans for the 15-acre parcel along Benner Pike and Paradise Road in Benner Township were reviewed during Tuesday’s Centre County Board of Commissioners meeting.
The plans, prepared by PennTerra Engineering, include a 53,570-square-foot supermarket with a fuel area, two fast food restaurants of 4,300 and 3,600 square feet, a 2,200-square-foot coffee/fast food restaurant and a 7,200- square-foot medical/office building.
Christopher Schnure, county subdivision and land development planner, said the developers have not specifically said what commercial entities will occupy the buildings.
Weis Pharmacy will begin offering coronavirus vaccines at several State College Weis locations.
The vaccines will be administered at the companyâs Martin Street and Rolling Ridge Drive in-store pharmacies, according to Dennis Curtin, a Weis spokesperson. The vaccinations became available on Thursday.
Vaccinations will be distributed to those who currently meet the Pennsylvania Department of Health qualifications. Curtin said Weis Pharmacy staffs prioritize individuals who are 65 or older and people with high risk-conditions.
To receive the vaccine, one must schedule an appointment with a qualified immunizer on the Weis website.Â
According to Curtin, appointment sign-ups are available one day beforehand. Face coverings are required, and a second immunization will be scheduled after receiving the first dose.
