Real Estate Roundup: Heights House Hotel open after $3 5 million renovation

The transformation of the former Astro Inn was highlighted in January by The Leader. The Heights House Hotel is now open at 100 W. Cavalcade St., according to a news release. The three-story vintage exterior-corridor hotel features 133 rooms with free parking; a 7,500-square foot ground-floor courtyard that features a pool with cabanas, patio green space with lounge furniture and canopy with covered outdoor seating; and hotel bar and restaurant, Space Cowboy, serving tropical cocktails and island comfort food from chef Lyle Bento. The 2-acre property was purchased in 2019 by local business owners Jivar Foty and George Giannukos. Foty’s Rise Construction completed a nearly year-long renovation, including a complete interior gut, improved insulation, new roof, exterior additions and energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the property.

At the Payette County Board of Commissioners’ regular meeting on April 19, Friend updated the board on how efforts to collect life jackets was going. The commission first approved the program in August 2020. There, Friend told the board that the stations would be up and running by the weekend of May 1. In an email to the newspaper Tuesday, Friend said the program got its start just by observing an unfilled need for safety on Payette County waterways.
