The Challenges Ahead As The Peace Corps Turns 60

How to Help Boulder Victims Families People from across the country are looking for ways to help families of the 10 people killed at a King Soopers in Boulder on March 22. We ve compiled a list of area groups that are collecting contributions in the aftermath of the shooting. In July, we published this statement in recognition of the work we needed to begin at CPR to confront issues of diversity, equity and inclusion in our newsroom and organization as a whole. We know this work is urgent, and we are dedicated to doing it thoroughly and connecting it with our vision and mission to reach all and serve everyone in Colorado.

ONLINE: Celebrating 60 Years of Service and Friendship

ONLINE: Celebrating 60 Years of Service and Friendship Mar 1, 2021 6:00 PM UW International Division Celebrating 60 Years of Service and Friendship is a panel discussion featuring former directors of Peace Corps at UW-Madison. Since the Peace Corps was created by executive order on March 1, 1961, by President John F. Kennedy, more than 6,400 Wisconsinites have signed on for international service; more than half of those — 3,300 — attended UW-Madison. So it s fitting that on the 60th anniversary of the Peace Corps, UW-Madison is hosting a live panel discussion featuring past directors of the organization from the 1970s to 2021. But wait, there s more Badgers connections. Former UW-Madison Chancellor Donna Shalala, who was apparently one of the first to serve in the Peace Corps — from 1962-1964 in Iran — will moderate the discussion. Stories of volunteering will be just one of the topics explored during the 90-minute event. Register for the talk, on Zoom, here
