The numbers released by the CDPHE on April 7, however, reflect 626 active and 3,787 resolved outbreaks, adding up to to 4,413 a leap of 127 outbreaks, and more than a 69 percent increase in a week, to the highest weekly total since January 27, as the state was working through the remnants of a holiday surge.
Given the overall rise, it s no surprise that several major outbreak categories saw increases this week. Fresh outbreaks at twelve K-12 schools had been included on March 31; fifteen popped up on April 7. Twelve outbreaks at health-care facilities were announced on March 31 and again on April 7, but nine of the latest are at facilities that cater to vulnerable seniors, as opposed to six a week earlier. There are eight more outbreaks at retailers, led by the giant Costco complex in Westminster seen at the top of this post.

Ron Rash is stepping down from his role as the Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers executive director in March because of health reasons. Fortunately, he will leave the organization in capable hands.
Rebecca Schild, the current associate director, will take the reins March 15. Schild has her doctorate in environmental studies from the University of Colorado Boulder and 15 years of experience as an outdoor and environmental educator.
Schild’s enthusiasm shines through when discussing her new role.
“The good vibes that I get from everybody about RFOV is encouraging,” she said Friday.
Nearly everyone she talks to appreciates the nonprofit’s role or is at least aware of what it does. “We’re like a good neighbor,” she said.
Taking a semester or year off before starting college or between semesters has always been an option, but the stakes and options are different this year.Â
A gap year is a broad concept with varying definitions. The UK-based Universities and Colleges Admissions Services suggests a multitude of causes to devote a gap year to, including volunteering, travel, non-collegiate courses, internships and paid employment.
The Gap Year Association (GYA) recorded across-the-board positive results from its 2015 survey of over 1,000 of its alumni, with 97% saying their gap year increased their maturity and helped them develop as a person, 84% saying it helped them acquire skills to be successful in their career and 73% saying it increased their readiness for college.
