NOIDA: A Covid care facility with oxygen support that was to come up at Mahagun Moderne housing society in Sector 78 has run into a bureaucratic wall. The backdrop is an order issued by city magistrate Umashankar Singh to the Noida Authority to take charge of the project, which was initially a voluntary exercise by Mahagun’s Apartment Owners’ Association (AOA) to cater to the 10,000-plus residents of the society as well as those living in the nearby 7X sectors. Singh’s department even pasted a notice of the order on the walls of the society’s playschool on Wednesday. “We have directed that the facility will be run by the Noida Authority and no one else,” Singh said. ....

Jharkhand on Thursday reported 141 fresh COVID-19 fatalities taking the death toll to 3,346, while 5,770 new positive cases pushed the tally to 2,63,115, a health department bulletin said. Inaugurating a 528-bed makeshift COVID hospital in Ranchi, which was built in just 12 days, Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed his government s commitment to take all steps to deal with the emerging scenario. The state currently has 59,532 active cases. Altogether 5,804 patients recovered from coronavirus on Thursday, taking the total number of cured people to 2,00,237, the bulletin said. As per the bulletin, the recovery ratio for Jharkhand is 76.10 per cent as against the national average of 82 per cent. ....
Hazaribagh: A wagon carrying oxygen cylinders hit a car killing three on the spot in Konhara area between Barhi and Bagodar in Barkatha, 68km away from Hazaribagh district headquarter. Police said the accident occurred on GT road as both vehicles coming from opposite direction took the same diversion resulting in the incident. The three persons including a woman sitting in the car died on the spot. Police have sent the bodies for post mortem to Hazaribagh medical college and hospital. The Dhanbad district administration has installed a 60 bed ICU Covid treatment facility at Sadar Hospital on Sunday. The number of ICU beds in the district has increased to around 250 after the April 18 permission given to 14 private hospitals to begin Covid treatment at their respective facilities. Apart from the Sadar Hospital, two other main ICUs operating in the district are at Cath lab of Sahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Central Hospital of BCCL in Jagjivan Nagar. The 14 private hospitals also run their own ICU facility. Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner, Uma Shankar Singh, monitored the installation of equipment and other facilities of the Sadar Hospital on Sunday. He designated three pharmacists at the hospital and instructed them to ensure management of the store room to ensure timely availability of all medicines and equipment for treatment of patients. ....
