HOLLIDAYSBURG A registered nurse for UPMC’s Family Hospice and Palliative Care agency held a courtroom spellbound Tuesday as she related how she survived a brutal knife attack upon visiting the home of one of her patients.
For seemingly no reason, the patient’s 15-year-old grandson, identified as Michael Douglas Watson of Stone Row Drive near Williamsburg, while escorting her out of his grandfather’s home, struck her on the back as she was about to enter her car.
She turned and looked at him and saw a knife.
He struck her in the abdomen with the knife also described as a sword during the lengthy hearing before Blair County President Judge Elizabeth Doyle. ....

HOLLIDAYSBURG An Altoona man was sentenced Thursday to three to six years’ incarceration for strangling a woman during a domestic dispute, plus an additional 30 days’ incarceration for assaulting or harassing three people who came to the woman’s aid.
Alexander R. Strohecker, 27, who has been in Blair County Prison since Oct. 19, 2019, when Altoona police arrested him at North Second Street and North Sixth Avenue, apologized to the victim before President Judge Elizabeth Doyle imposed his sentence.
“I wish I could go back 14 months and do things so different,” Strohecker said as he spoke of having changed while in prison. “I’m so sorry for what I did to you. I’m not that person anymore.” ....
