Las Cruces, T or C watch parties
Las Cruces is planning watch parties in two locations Sunday morning. The public may watch at the Rio Grande Theatre at 211 N. Main St., downtown or the Las Cruces City Council Chambers at City Hall, 700 N. Main St.
According to Visit Las Cruces, the city s convention and visitors bureau, both events will welcome the public on a first-come-first-served basis, with doors opening at 6:30 a.m.
In the seat of Sierra County 30 miles from the spaceport, the public is invited to watch the live stream at the Truth or Consequences Civic Center, at 400 W. Fourth St.

TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES – As the Sunday morning launch of the SpaceShipTwo Unity approaches, southern New Mexico officials and space buff residents are preparing for an event that has been brewing for nearly two decades.
“Spaceport (America) has been in the works for over 20 years, and this is finally the launch that we have waited for,” said Sandra Whitehead, mayor of Truth or Consequences, the small city of just under 6,000 people about 20 miles from the 18,000-acre spaceport.
