Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Christopher Hui told lawmakers Wednesday that the initiative is expected to be rolled out by phases in 2022. At least seven departments have started preparatory work. Numerous other departments will also explore the possibility of extending FPS payment to their bills.

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) has taken stringent enforcement action relating to anti-epidemic regulations during the New Year period and initiated prosecution procedures against 14 catering business operators.
The 14 operators were suspected of breaching the requirements relating to providing distance or partition between tables and mask-wearing.
Apart from stepping up inspections in various districts, the department also conducted joint operations with Police in Central & Western, Eastern, Islands, Yau Tsim, Mong Kok, Shum Shui Po, Sha Tin, Tai Po, Kwai Tsing, Tsuen Wan and Yuen Long districts on December 31.
A total of 370 catering premises and 27 other premises were inspected during the joint operations, while 563 catering premises and 39 other premises were inspected by the FEHD alone.
