Suburban Skyview: A final aloha to Aloha Falls

Updated 5/15/2021 4:54 PM The Aloha Falls miniature golf course at Peterson Road and Route 45 in Libertyville has been closed for a little more than a year and likely will be replaced with a gas station or some other other commercial development. The complex layout featured two Hawaiian-themed courses that look like artwork from the sky the Beach, which was more relaxing, and the Waterfall, which was more challenging.   The facility was formally known as the Family Entertainment Center and was a part of the Libertyville Sports Complex. An adjoining driving range also has been closed. Both facilities, which take in close to 21 acres, have been for sale for years.

Janesville City Council candidates discuss priorities for COVID-19 relief funding

JANESVILLE As individuals nationwide plan how to spend their upcoming stimulus checks, candidates for Janesville City Council were taken to task on how they would prioritize municipal COVID-19 relief funds. It was one of several questions asked by the League of Women Voters on Friday night during a council candidate forum. Six candidates are running for four of the seven city council seats. Doug Marklein is the only incumbent trying to retain his seat; Sue Conley, Jim Farrell and Tom Wolfe have chosen not to run. Jack Herndon, Michael Jackson, David Marshick, Heather Miller and Dan Neal are the other five challengers. All are newcomers to Janesville politics. At least three of them will be elected.
