Overstreet will be installed as 2nd Vice President of the Illinois Judges Association during the annual meeting on June 4. The Illinois Judges Association, which represents 1,250 active and retired Illinois state court judges, was founded in 1972 to provide services, support, and education to its member judges and raise public understanding of the Illinois judicial system. He currently serves on the Illinois Judicial Conference and is the Supreme Court Liaison to the Supreme Court Commission on Access to Justice, Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness, and the Supreme Court E-Business Policy Advisory Board.

ILLINOIS SUPREME COURT: Illinois Supreme Court Goes Remote for January Oral Arguments, Bar Admission Ceremony

By Illinois Supreme Court issued the following announcement on Jan. 11. The Illinois Supreme Court hold oral arguments via the Zoom videoconference platform when it hears cases for its first term of 2021.  The Court continues to practice social distancing while still conducting court proceedings during the COVID-19 pandemic. “I would like to thank counsel and the new admittees for their cooperation in holding these events remotely,” Chief Justice Anne M. Burke said.  “We strive to ensure access to justice while maintaining the health and safety of everyone in the court system.” The court was scheduled to hear four cases on January 12, four cases on January 13 and two cases on January 14.
