On the Day of Unity of Ukraine, the United States Embassy once again called on Russia to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders, including Crimea and Donbas.
Acting Deputy Chief of the U.S. Diplomatic Mission to Ukraine Joseph Pennington said this in a video address, posted by the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine on its Facebook page.
“On Ukrainian Unity Day, we again call on Russia to respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, including Crimea and the Donbas and extending to its territorial waters,” the diplomat said.

Ukraine s Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it sees the consolidation of efforts of all Ukrainians as a powerful weapon to counter Russian aggression. The consolidation of efforts of all Ukrainians is a powerful weapon to defeat [our] common enemy and restore [Ukraine s] territorial integrity, the ministry said in an official statement to mark Ukrainian Unity Day on January 22. The Act Zluky [Unification Act signed on January 22, 1919] determined the further formation of the Ukrainian political nation and became evidence of the will of the Ukrainians for self-determination and consolidation, the ministry said.
