With St. Cloud State leading Miami 1-0 about 10 minutes into the third period on Friday, the real action started, as the RedHawks quickly scored two goals en route to a 3-2 win over the 6th ranked Huskies.
Huskies Fall to WMU in OT
St. Cloud got things going with a power-play goal from
Easton Brodzinski to take a 1-0 lead in the first period. Western Michigan responded with their first goal to tie the game, but a goal from
Spencer Meier put the Huskies back on top entering the second.
The Broncos netted two to take their first lead of the night 3-2 in the second.
Jared Cockrell scored number three for SCSU and tied the game again. In the third,
Sam Hentges pulled the Huskies ahead 4-3.
At the end of the period, however, WMU scored again to send it into overtime. In the opening minute of the extra period, the Broncos scored the game-winning goal and edged out the Huskies 5-4.
#6 Huskies Fall to #4 Bulldogs in OT
ST. CLOUD The No.6 ranked St. Cloud State University men s hockey team came up short in their first game back from the holiday break against the University of Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday night.
The Bulldogs took the lead early, scoring the first goal of the day at the 1:36 mark of the opening period. The Huskies responded with a goal of their own before the period expired to tie it up 1-1.
UMD scored again early in the second period. This time SCSU found the back of the net twice to take their first lead of the night 3-2.
