Cuningar Loop THE Cuningar Loop woodland park is set to grow after a £2.3million funding boost. Almost 170 trees will be planted and new walkways, picnic areas and a teaching amphitheatre are all planned. An extra 21 acres of currently vacant and derelict land will be added to the existing 37 acres of woodland. Cash has been given to the Clyde Gateway regeneration programme – a partnership between Glasgow City Council, South Lanarkshire Council and Scottish Enterprise – by the Scottish Government. It comes from the Clyde Mission fund, set up to use the river to drive economic, social and environmental benefits. More than £11m was handed out to a range of projects in December, including for the transformation of Water Row, Govan, and repairs to the Finnieston Crane.

Clyde Gateway has hailed £2.3m of Scottish Government funding, through the Clyde Mission Fund, to build on the success of the award-winning Cuningar Loop Woodland Park to create phase two, extending the forest park on the banks of the River Clyde by a further 8.53 hectare (21 acres). In partnership with NatureScot, the next phase of Cuningar Loop will see the transformation of previous derelict and inaccessible land into a new green space which will be designed to enable community engagement, health, wellbeing and lifelong learning as part of the local response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
