The Conservative Party candidate secured 2,535 votes giving him a 57.4 per cent majority.
Karen Hoyles (Liberal Democrats) got 690 votes, Liz Pole (Labour and Co=operative Party) got 624 while Wes Healey (Green Party) got 523.
The turnout was 39.9 per cent.

Friends and supporters of Kathleen Folbigg have grave concerns for her safety after she was reportedly bashed by a fellow inmate in a horrific attack within days of transferring to another jail.
The woman considered as Australia s worst female serial killer and most hated woman was jailed in 2003 for the murders of her children Patrick, Sarah and Laura - aged from eight months to 19 months - between 1991 and 1999.
She was also found guilty of the manslaughter of her first-born child, Caleb, who was just 19 days old when he died in Newcastle in 1989.
Folbigg, 53 has maintained her innocence and now has the support of dozens of scientists and medical experts who have called for her to be pardoned from her 30-year jail term.

In recent years, we have seen the world, including New Zealand, exposed to a series of major crises: Covid-19, climate change and plastics waste. These crises are all global and not just regional in nature. We need to remind ourselves of the wise dictum: Think Global and Act Local. All three crises involve science and technology in different but fundamental ways. In order to develop pragmatic global and local solutions, they all demand critical working partnerships between governments, the private sector and the global community. These partnerships are like a doubles game of tennis – all partnerships must perform effectively for the game itself to be successful. Developing stronger and more effective partnerships between and within these sectors must become a priority for New Zealand.
