Two tugboats help guide a littoral combat ship Thursday off the shores of Escanaba. The naval ship drew small crowds to the municipal dock, the area near the old jail, and the bike path along 1st Avenue North. The ship will be docked at North Shore Marine Terminal & Logistics.

In honor of National Volunteer Week, the Foster Grandparents were in honored with gifts at the Escanaba Senior Center Friday. Each Foster Grandparent received a bag containing an iPad, an iPad case, a $50 Holiday gas card and a picnic blanket. The Escanaba Rotary Club held its annual rose delivery to local nursing homes Thursday. Nearly 350 individual flowers were delivered to residents of Bishop Noa, Cedar Hill Assisted Living, Christian Park, Lakewview Assisted Living, North Woods Assisted Living, and St. Judes Assisted Living.The local chapter was founded in 1920 and fundraises throughout the year to supports a variety of local charitable organizations. The Rotary club would like to thank Pike’s Distributing for the boxes and Escanaba National Honor Society students for helping with the vases.
