RACING returns to Chester Racecourse next week, with the famous Boodles May Festival. And while racing will continue to be held behind closed doors, due to current Covid restrictions, the racecourse has plans in place for punters with a range of virtual events to be held throughout the meetings. It had been hoped the racecourse could host the race meetings with a limited crowd, as part of a pilot sporting event, with everyone in attendance receiving Covid testing on the site. However, those plans failed to get the go-ahead from the Government. The Boodles Festival was cancelled entirely last year because of the pandemic.
TICKETS go on sale next week for the return of spectators to Chester Racecourse this summer when a new £1m circular bar and rooftop terrace will be unveiled. After a year of racing behind closed doors, Chester Race Company says it is looking forward to being one of the first major events in the country to welcome back full-capacity crowds. And to kick-start the eagerly-anticipated return of race-goers the new Champagne Garden will be unveiled for the first time, enabling visitors to get close to the action in the Paddock and Parade Ring – home to the winning horses, jockeys, owners and trainers.
