Even for the Best Nonprofits To Work For, 2020 was a difficult year. The United States Tennis Association Mid-Atlantic Section (USTA MAS) rarely has any voluntary turnover among its 21 employees. But like at many nonprofits, the pandemic forced difficult decisions. The organization laid off about one-third of its staff in July. It was among 10 of the 2021 Best Nonprofits To Work For that reported laying off or furloughing staff last year.

Kinexus Group has been named one of the 2021 Best Nonprofits To Work For by The Nonprofit Times and Best Companies Group. Kinexus CEO Todd Gustafson tells WSJM News he thinks the mission at Kinexus of connecting people with good employment naturally makes it a good employer itself.
“We try to inspire positive economic change one person, one business, and one community at a time,” Gustafson said. “That happens to be a magnet, I think, for people who are purpose-driven and want to work for an organization that’s making a difference.”
Gustafson says Kinexus values its people.
“We work hard to retain and invest in people that we have. I think we work hard to treat them really well. We’ve got a really talented group of people with multiple perspectives and backgrounds.”

A Benton Harbor-based workforce and economic development nonprofit was included on a list of the best nonprofit employers in the U.S.
The NonProfit Times on Monday published its list of the 2021 Best Nonprofits To Work For, and Benton Harbor-based Kinexus Group was ranked No. 39 on the list. It was the only West Michigan-based nonprofit among the 50 organizations mentioned. This is Kinexus Groupâs fifth year in a row on the list.
