To enhance its educational and cultural offerings, AUC's Distinguished Visiting Professor program brings a number of eminent scholars, writers, and artists to campus for short-term lectureships or workshops. Leading scholars of religion, prominent historians, expert law professors, and world-renowned scientists are among the broad array of distinguished visiting professors who come to AUC each year to teach, conduct research and deliver public lectures. UW-Madison poet and professor Amaud Jamaul Johnson and UW-Madison professor Cherene Sherrard will read from their works, which address such topics as Black identity and the brutal realities of being Black in the U.S. Johnson released his latest poetry collection,
Imperial Liquor, this year. But the program is as much discussion as a reading of prior work. Moderated by Ann Shaffer (MA â90) the evening will also include a Q&A session.
