In a press release issued by DTI, Provincial Director Ma. Sofia G. Narag stated that DTI thru the Bureau of Philippine Standards (BPS) regulates sanitary wares such as water closets, urinals, lavatories, and bidets, whether locally manufactured or imported, to ensure the quality of said products being sold in the local market.

Personnel from DTI-Ifugao s Consumer Protection Division together with representatives of the municipal governments of Lagawe and Banaue inspected hardware stores to ensure that these establishments comply with standard requirements on markings and mass weight as required by Philippine National Standard (PNS) for rerolled steel bars and deformed steel bars.

According to the senator, the high cost of construction materials could negatively impact the Philippine housing industry, especially during a pandemic, which has heavily affected the construction industry. “According to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), at the height of the enhanced community quarantine, the number and value of construction projects in the first quarter of 2020 shrank by over one-fifth, with construction works also placed on hold,” Tolentino said in his Senate Resolution No. 677.
