ILOILO CITY, Jan. 11 (PIA) – A total of 233 members and mass supporters of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) in Panay Island formally surrendered to the government. The CPP-NPA-NDF members and supporters came from Calinog, Iloilo and Tapaz, Capiz who surrendered earlier to the 12th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, said Acting 12IB Civil Military Operations Officer 1Lt. Nigel John Gayanilo in a press release. The group formally withdrew their support to the communist organization during a formal ceremony on January 8, 2021 in Calinog, Iloilo through the members of the Western Visayas Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC).
