CANTON – The Church & Community Program, 30 Court St., is adding hours to the Second Chance Thrift Shop and their pantry food distribution.
Starting June 1, the thrift shop will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The reinstated full hours will kick off with a $5 bag sale for two weeks. All shoppers are still required to wear masks.
On June 8, the CCP pantry will distribute food from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays in an effort to serve people who may not be available during regular distribution on Wednesdays.
Also, the pantry will be open from noon to 3:45 p.m. on Wednesdays, starting June 9. The pantry offers prepared boxes according to a preference list that clients fill out.

The Wednesday before Christmas, three men at the Beacon of Hope men’s shelter learned that they tested positive for COVID-19, according to the shelter’s executive director, Steve Roe.
And in the week that followed, four more men tested positive.
“Our guys are getting sick,” Roe said. “We have more testing positive every day and some are pretty sick.”
Roe announced on Wednesday that the shelter has been locked down.
“I feel I have no choice but to go into lockdown,” he said. “No one in and no one out.”
About 32 men stay at the shelter. The oldest resident is in his late 70s. The youngest is about 25.
