Normin gears for TS Crising to protect 419 susceptible brgys Philippine Information Agency 13 May 2021, 22:38 GMT+10 CAMIGUIN, May 13 (PIA) The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC)-10 has alerted the 419 barangays susceptible to landslide and flood in northern Mindanao as heavy rainfall is expected starting May 14, 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. due to Tropical Storm Crising. Local government units (LGUs) through the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 are advised to conduct pre-emptive evacuation measures on areas within their jurisdiction with high susceptibility to landslides and flooding as well as to reposition food and non-food items in their respective evacuation centers while adhering to the minimum public health standards.

Barangay chairman, 4 others arrested for illegal quarrying

Published March 17, 2021, 5:11 PM A barangay chairman and four other persons have been arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) BI for alleged illegal quarrying activities in Balanac River in Laguna. NBI Officer-In-Charge Director Eric B. Distor on Wednesday, March 17. identified those arrested last March 11 as Barangay Balanac Chairman Dennis Olipano, Michael Abad, Randy delos Reyes, Danilo Noriel and Abner Davac. Distor said they were arrested by the agents of the NBI’s Environmental Crime Division (NBI-EnCD).  “Subjects were arrested for disposing and extracting boulders and minerals from Balanac River, Laguna without necessary permits from DENR-MGB (Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Mines and Geosciences Bureau) or the PMRB-Laguna (Provincial Mining Regulatory Board),” the NBI said in a statement.
