+ April 23, 2021 DESPITE the open declaration of his allies and supporters that he will challenge Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia in the coming May 2022 elections, former Third District representative Alfredo Albee Benitez did not make the confirmation after he officially transferred his voting registration from Victorias City to Bacolod City on Thursday, April 22, 2021.
Benitez said now that he is a registered voter of Bacolod City, he only has two political options left and that is either to run for mayor of Bacolod City or senator of the country.

+ April 22, 2021 HOUSE Minority Leader Stephen Caraps Paduano and Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer confirmed Monday, April 21, 2021, that former Third District Representative Alfredo Albee Benitez will transfer his voting registration from Victorias City to Bacolod City on Tuesday.
Paduano, who is considered as the closest ally of Benitez, would not confirm that Benitez s move answers the news circulating in the city that Benitez would be challenging incumbent Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Bing Leonardia. I would leave it to Benitez to make his announcement of his personal political decision for Bacolod City, Paduano said.
Leonardia earlier said this is too early for politics. He said he focuses his time and efforts on the Covid-19 pandemic and that he does not want his focus disturbed.
