IMPHAL: Tension gripped the Kyamgei Takhok Makha area in Imphal East district after unknown armed men fired some bullets outside the residence of a police constable, Md Moshi (35), around 11.15pm on Sunday. No one was injured in the incident.
Local women on Monday staged a protest in the area on Monday in protest against the incident, holding placards reading, “We condemn terrorism”, “ Stop gun culture”, etc., even as police have registered a case to ascertain the veracity of the attack.
The protesters demanded that the government book the culprits. President of BJP Keirao Mandal Rajnikanta also sought action against the attackers.

IMPHAL: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh handed over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to the Imphal East District Police team in Imphal for rescuing three workers from suspected militants.
Meanwhile, Manipur chief minister taking to his Twitter handle wrote, Well done Imphal East District Police and Commando team for rescuing three labourers from their kidnappers today. Handed over a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh for their bravery and the police team will also be awarded Chief Minister s commendation certificates.

Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh on Thursday said his government’s “war on drugs” was a “committed mission” and nobody could derail it with “unfounded” criticisms and politically-motivated instigations.
Singh said this while destroying pre-trial drugs and psychotropic substances worth over Rs 34 crore in the international market at Pungdongbam Chingmang in Imphal East District in the presence of ministers, MLAs, high-ranking police officers, mediapersons, villagers and local leaders. These drugs were seized by Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) and Manipur police, the chief minister’s office said.
