KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 28 ― There has been no violation of the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the Thaipusam celebration during the enforcement of the movement control order throughout the country so far, said Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani. He said Hindu devotees celebrating Thaipusam complied with the National Security Council’s (MKN) SOP to curb the spread of Covid-19 by not having religious processions.

Sugu escaped jail term with a three-year good behaviour bond of RM8,000 after pleading guilty at the Sessions Court here to possessing an offensive weapon in July last year. Judge Norashima Khalid meted out the sentence after the 30-year-old pleaded guilty during the trial proceeding on charges of possessing a dangerous weapon. Norashima also ordered Sugu to pay RM3,000 for the prosecution cost.
