Hyderabad: The price of petrol in the city rose up to Rs 96.22 on Monday, the highest it has ever seen, say petroleum dealers.
The price of petrol is subjected to change daily as petroleum companies such as Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) alter the fuel prices based on the crude oil prices.

The Election Commission has asked the Union health ministry not to use Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photograph on Covid vaccine certificates in the five poll-bound states, responding to a complaint from the Trinamul Congress.
The ministry has been given “two to three days” to modify its computer system, which generates these certificates for those who receive the vaccine, a commission source said.

IOC has launched 100 Octane petrol in Hyderabad at Rs 160 per litre. Premium world-class petrol was first introduced in Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Agra, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad in December last year.
Since last few days, its sales have begun in Hyderabad as well. The price of this fuel is uniform across cities at Rs 160 per litre. “The 100 Octane fuel received good response from customers. Select outlets are recording daily sales of 200 litres to 300 litres per day. It is advisable to switch over to branded fuel for better performance of vehicles and enhanced engine life,” Rajiv Amaram, Consortium of Indian Petroleum Dealers joint secretary, said.

Hyderabad: The state continues to be behind other southern states in sales of petroleum products, at a time when fuel sales in the country increased for the first time in September last year. Telangana suffered a 30% fall in the sales in the last financial year, resulting in Rs 1,000 crore drop in income. In January last year, the state’s average petrol sales hovered at 4,000 kilolitres, which dropped to 3,000 kl last month. The fall was seen more in diesel sales.
