NEW PUSH: Khadi Board is looking to revive the sector by marketing and selling its products online
Hubballi: To promote marketing of khadi products, Karnataka State Khadi and Gramodyog Board is planning to use online and e-commerce platforms.
There are more than 9,000 workers in the khadi industry. During the lockdown induced by Covid-19, khadi workers were in trouble as their product remained unsold.
Jayavibhav Swamy, CEO of the Khadi Board, said that due to Covid-19, khadi products worth Rs 280 crore remained unsold in 207 khadi centres. For economic revival of the khadi industry, the board plans to provide online e-marketing facility for khadi products. “The matter will be discussed in the board meeting and a decision will be taken whether to have talks with e-commerce firms such as Amazon and Flipkart,” he said.
