CLEARING THE WAY â STEM students at Indian Creek Middle School are literally carving a path with the development of a nature trail on the school grounds. The nearly mile-long trail includes views of woodlands, water and wildlife and should be completed next year. HONORED â The Childrenâs Hunger Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating childhood food insecurity, honored the Indian Creek Local School Districtâs Food Service team for their dedication to feeding students during the COVID-19 pandemic. The staff worked with the Bay 6 Project of Mingo Junction to serve an estimated 89,000 breakfast and lunch meals to children amid the shutdown and their efforts have earned accolades for the program. Among those helping were, front from left, Lisa Pearce, P.J. Redmond, Angela Van Kirk and Ashley Agin; back, food service Director Eric White, Rick Oxley of Childrenâs Hunger Alliance, Lâtanya Martin and Laura Sabedra-Norris.
But his heart. Chase s heart was pure â and his heart belonged to Sadie.
Chase and Sadie (Mills) Smith, who married as high school seniors on April 29, four days after Chase was given just months to live, captivated a nation with their story of raw and extraordinary devotion. They got 11 joy and tear-filled months together.
Chase Smith died Sunday at his home with family and his beloved Sadie by his side. He was 19.
Known for his competitive spirit in the pool as a nationally-ranked swimmer, his loyalty to friends, his adoration of family, Chase was not shy to tell the world of his two greatest loves: Jesus and Sadie.
