If you thought the coronavirus outbreak stoked fears of zoonosis prompting people to stay away from pets, you couldn’t be more wrong. It is estimated that there has been a near 40% rise in pet ownership in the state since the beginning of the pandemic.

Beyond cats and dogs, a wide range of animals and birds, from lovebirds, parrots, parakeets, and guinea pigs, to pocket monkeys, iguanas and turtles, were welcomed into homes during the lockdown.
