KUALA LUMPUR: Two Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers who were detained under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma) and believed to be linked to the Nicky Gang syndicate have withdrawn their habeas corpus applications to seek their immediate release.
KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Two Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers detained under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma), and believed to be linked to the Nicky Gang organised crime syndicate, have withdrawn their habeas corpus application seeking their immediate release.
Their lawyer Latheefa Koya told the High Court here on Monday (May 24) that her clients, aged 41 and 42, had withdrawn their applications as they were released on police bail on May 18.
Following this, Judge Datuk Ahmad Shahrir Mohd Salleh dismissed the applications.
The court had set Monday to hear the habeas corpus applications, which named Johor police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, a police officer, the Inspector-General of Police, the Home Minister and the Malaysian Government as the first to fifth respondents.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 19 Two Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers who were arrested last month under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 ( Sosma) on suspected links with organised crime group, Nicky Gang were released on police bail yesterday.
Counsel Zaid Malek who is representing both men aged 41 and 42 said they were released while waiting for police investigation into the case and both of them could be charged if the public prosecutor has sufficient evidence.
KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): A senior police officer, who was released on police bail from his detention made under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma) for alleged connection with the organised crime group Nicky Gang, withdrew his habeas corpus application.
High Court Judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan then quashed the habeas corpus application filed by Asst Supt Baldev Singh Gurdial Singh, 36, as the applicant.
Earlier, lawyer Meneesha Kaur, representing Baldev Singh, told the court that her client was released on police bail by the Johor police contingent headquarters on May 5. I was instructed (by my client) to withdraw the habeas corpus application, ” she said.
