KNOXVILLE, Tenn., May 19, 2021 /PRNewswire/ The University of Tennessee, Knoxville is announcing the addition of an online Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science. This is the latest chapter in the university s collaboration with Noodle, the country s fastest growing online learning network.

The addition of the online computer science MS degree reflects the university s commitment to adapting to a changing world. Computer & Information Sciences (CIS) is the fastest-growing discipline in United States higher education. Currently, CIS is the eighth largest discipline, accounting for five percent of all conferred graduate degrees.

Jose Pelaez was in the Middle East as a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserve when he realized he wanted to be more involved in emergency management and homeland security planning. Pelaez had been serving as a security forces noncommissioned officer in the reserve. His bachelor’s degree is in criminal justice with experience as a civilian police sergeant.

The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is expanding its online portfolio with Noodle, the nation’s fastest-growing network of online learning, to include a Master of Public Health from the Department of Public Health in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. Along with the recently announced online Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Programs, the online MPH marks an important milestone in a partnership that is planned to grow to 10 online programs.
The online version of the Master of Public Health brings the same pedagogy, curriculum, and faculty expertise as the existing in-person program. This nonthesis professional preparation degree program offers working adults the opportunity to advance their education and careers now without relocating to Knoxville.
