A Beloit shooting suspect pleads guilty to his role in gunfire exchanged in May of 2020.
26-year-old Isaiah Evans was initially charged with attempted homicide for shooting at 39-year-old Denzen Jones, who is accused of firing shots back.
Evans’ attorney reached a joint recommendation to plead guilty to first-degree recklessly endangering safety instead, and Rock County Judge John Wood sentenced him Friday to one year in the Rock County Jail.
Assistant District Attorney Mary Bricco said Jones and other victims in the case were uncooperative with police and prosecutors, limiting the strength of the state’s case.
Evans has already served close to a year of jail time that he will receive sentence credit for, but he will remain on extended supervision for three more years from a previous conviction.
