On Wednesday morning, weather maps from WXCHARTS quickly turn icy blue as the cold weather front quickly sweeps in across the country. Minimum temperatures are forecast to fall to as low as freezing in Scotland, as well as in the north east and north west of England, and to as low as 3C in southern parts of the country. The Saharan dust warning comes after a spell of warmer weather across the UK this weekend, with temperatures lifting away from the Baltic winter lows of the past few weeks.
The Met Office tweeted: “Low pressure to our NW is feeding S ly winds into the UK from the Canaries, allowing #Saharandust to be drawn N too.
“The recent satellite image below shows this in red.
“You may notice dust deposits on cars & colourful sunrises/sets next few days.”

Freezing temperatures, ice and snow are on the cards for Britain this weekend after a week of torrential rain and fierce winds due to Storm Christoph. Now the Met Office has issued two fresh warnings for snow and ice across parts of the UK over the next few days. Up to six inches could fall in some areas as a band of rain turns to snow in the plunging temperatures.
